Video Director

As a registered Charitable Organization YouTheatre Movement is powered by the passion and zeal of our volunteers.

We are currently in search of a creative Communications and Media Director to join our team here in Vancouver/Burnaby.
In this role, you will be responsible for all aspects of media production, with a focus on video communications, social media clips, and seamless website integration. Your work will play a pivotal role in promoting our organization’s mission and events to a broader audience, with a particular emphasis on serving marginalized communities, senior youth, and young adults. You will also contribute to two exciting projects: “Voices,” an Indigenous DocuSeries, and an ongoing Reality Reel capturing YouTheatre’s cross-country tour.

Responsibilities

Video Production:
Plan, shoot, and edit high-quality videos to showcase YouTheatre’s productions, events, and initiatives, including the “Voices” documentary series.
Collaborate with the creative team to develop compelling video concepts and storylines for the “Voices” project, with a commitment to amplifying underrepresented voices.
Ensure all video content aligns with the organization’s brand and messaging.

Social Media Management:
Create and optimize short video clips for various social media platforms to engage and inform our audience, especially those from marginalized backgrounds.
Regularly update and maintain our social media profiles with engaging multimedia content, including highlights from the cross-country tour that resonate with senior youth and young adults.
Monitor social media trends and adjust content strategies accordingly to reach diverse audiences.

Website Integration:
Work closely with our web development team to seamlessly integrate videos into our website, including episodes from the “Voices” series and tour v-logs.
Ensure that the website is up-to-date with the latest multimedia content, including video highlights and interviews from both projects, serving as a valuable resource for our diverse audience.
Optimize video content for online streaming and user accessibility.

Collaboration:

Collaborate with other teams and departments to support their multimedia needs, with a strong commitment to inclusivity and representation.
Coordinate with actors, crew members, and volunteers to capture behind-the-scenes footage and interviews for both projects, fostering an environment where everyone’s story is valued.
Attend events and rehearsals to capture live performances and tour moments that resonate with the marginalized communities, senior youth, and young adults we serve.

Qualifications:
Proven experience in video production, with a strong portfolio showcasing your work, particularly in highlighting diverse voices and stories.
Proficiency in video editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro).
Familiarity with camera equipment and audio recording tools.
Strong creative and storytelling skills, with an understanding of the power of storytelling in shaping identity.
Knowledge of social media platforms and trends, with a commitment to using media for social impact.
Web integration and multimedia management skills are a plus.
Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
