Join Youtheatre for the Re-Generation 2027 national tour, an immersive theatrical experience featuring the powerful Canadian Trilogy. As an educational charity, Youtheatre is dedicated to using the stage for social change, bringing three distinct plays to audiences to raise awareness about sensitive, urgent societal issues. This project aligns deeply with the Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) Calls to Action, fostering empathy, provoking meaningful dialogue, and inspiring actionable change from British Columbia to Newfoundland.

The Canadian Trilogy

COMPLICIT

Dates: November 11–15, 2026
Location: Studio 16, 1555 West 7 Ave, Vancouver
Overview: The first installment of the trilogy addresses the traumatic legacy of the residential school system and forced government assimilation programs. The narrative follows the harrowing reality of an Indigenous child named Raven, who is forcibly taken from her home, and examines the destructive complicity of the individuals who participated in these government mandates.
Educational Alignment: COMPLICIT highlights TRC Calls to Action 1-5 and 62-65 regarding Child Welfare and Education for Reconciliation. Educators and audiences can also utilize the reference document "Complicit Lives" to further contextualize the historical weight of the performance.

Handcuffed

Dates: May 5-9, 2027
Location: Revue Stage, Granville Island
Overview: The second play tackles the devastating modern crises of drug addiction, mental health struggles, and internal psychological battles. The story centers on Thom, a young professional who spirals into severe addiction and paranoia, shedding light on urban isolation and the urgent need for empathy and intervention.
Educational Alignment: Handcuffed aligns with TRC Calls to Action 18-24 and 36, which demand recognition of how past government policies have impacted Indigenous health and highlight the need for culturally relevant healing and substance abuse services.

Highway of Tears

Dates: August 25-29, 2027
Location: TBA Vancouver
Overview: The final chapter confronts the ongoing tragedy of Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls (MMIWG). Following the lives of vulnerable women like Jazzy, Sabeen, and Ravyn, the play exposes the systemic exploitation and violence endured along the highways of Northern British Columbia.
Educational Alignment: This performance directly reflects TRC Call to Action 41, urging public awareness and inquiry into the disproportionate victimization of Indigenous women and girls.
