STORIES THAT

YOUTHEATRE MOVEMENT SOCIETY
Investing in the future through a culture of honour, trust, and respect.
HOW WE INTRODUCE STORY

APPRENTICESHIP
The Apprenticeship Program encourages students to focus on the rhythm and dynamics of dialogue, finding the natural cadence and intensity in speech to create compelling performances.

LIVE THEATRE
Live Theatre is an experience. It is a magical environment created by the Ensemble, who come together and create a world where spectators can be swept away and allow themselves to think freely, imagine freely, and let the metaphysical permeate, and do its job.

COMMUNITY EVENTS
Bannock Throwdown, StoryFest, Cabaret. These are a few of the community events that YouTheatre produces. These experiences bring people together to share their stories through art and food.
Community is of profound importance, especially when human lives are at stake, physically, emotionally, and spiritually.
We shape ideas into dances, dreams into songs, words into scripts, together our expression clothes the invisible.

UPCOMING EVENTS

“RE-GENERATION” is a National Tour of three original works traveling from British Columbia to Newfoundland, calling communities to stand together for the healing and regeneration of the land and its people.
Each play touches on a societal nerve from abduction and human trafficking to addiction and the spiritual underpinnings of overdose; as well as a story surrounding the Residential School era about systemic racism and how reconciliation cannot happen until the truth is revealed.

“After seeing the performance, I came back the following night with three of my friends, each of them a [Residential School] Survivor. We never saw a story like this, that admitted the things we always knew were wrong but nobody was saying.” — S. Bekkattla
“It was an eye opener, for sure. But, I left with a sense of hope, even though everything was a mess.” — P. Shinkoda
