Elijah Bamberry

Operations
Elijah Bamberry is one of the founders of the Youtheatre Movement Society and has been deeply involved with the organization from an early age, growing up within its culture of physical theatre, storytelling, and youth mentorship. As part of the Bamberry family legacy that helped establish Youtheatre, Elijah holds the unique distinction of having participated in every Youtheatre production and event since its inception.

Over the years, he has taken on a variety of roles, including the Ventriloquist's Dummy, a troubled lacky, and numerous delinquent youths. He has also understudied many roles across productions and tours, stepping into performances when needed and adapting quickly to unexpected changes. Elijah, alongside his two brothers Coltrane and Jonphonse, once had to adapt a four-actor scene into a three-actor performance while travelling by bus to a high school in the Interior of BC, creatively merging roles to form a new character known as "Barney." On another tour to the Okanagan, Elijah learned and performed the role of Lou in Handcuffed on just two days' notice.
From 2021 to 2023, Elijah studied in the intensive two-year Acting Program at Douglas College, where he trained in the theatrical methodologies of Jerzy Grotowski, Konstantin Stanislavski, Stella Adler, and Marcel Marceau. His studies forged a synthesis between rigorous classical actor training and the embodied, movement-driven foundations of Youtheatre, allowing him to approach performance with both precision and physical immediacy.

Today, Elijah has expanded his role within Youtheatre beyond performance, moving from being solely a player on stage to also working in producing, human resources, and research, contributing to the organization's structure, development, and creative direction behind the scenes. He remains deeply excited about the future of Youtheatre and its continued evolution, while also feeling a strong creative pull to begin developing his own original works, shaped by his training, experience, and lifelong connection to the company's artistic vision.
